Why a black box isn’t enough
Drawing a black rectangle in most PDF editors only covers the text. Anyone can select it, copy it, or delete the box. That is how many “redacted” documents leak.
Virvla turns each redacted page into a flat image with the black areas burned in, so the hidden text no longer exists in the file. Pages you don’t touch keep their normal, selectable text.
How to use it

- Download the redacted PDF.
Questions
- Are my files uploaded?
- No. The converter runs inside your browser, so your files stay on your device. You can check: open your browser’s developer tools, go to the Network tab and convert something.
- Can the hidden text be recovered?
- No. Redacted pages are rebuilt as images, so the original text under the boxes is not in the new file.
- Is it free?
- Yes. Free pages show a small ad that pays for the site. Pro removes ads and lets you drop more files at once.
